QCR WRL Minor 2026

Queen City Riichi is hosting a World Riichi League (WRL) Minor tournament on June 14th! Participants will play with the unmodified World Riichi Championship (WRC) 2025 ruleset. Besides unique prizes, participants will earn points toward the WRL Finals (details below)! While we expect the participants to understand the WRC 2025 Ruleset, we will provide WRC 2025 reference sheets for the yaku list and the scoring guide.

• Format:
  • 4-hanchan, hand-shuffled.
  • Each hanchan lasts “75 min + 1 hand” (see WRC 2025 Ruleset Section 10.1 Time limit)
  • For physical prizes, players are ranked by their cumulative outcome over 4 hanchan
• Date: June 14, 2026 (Sunday)
• Time: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM for the tournament. Free play until 11:30 PM.
• Location: Hampton Inn & Suites Cincinnati-Mason: 5232 Bardes Rd, Mason, OH 45040
  • Tournament takes place in the hotel’s only conference room (near the lobby).
  • Parking is free.
• Capacity: 32 players max. See current registration list.
• Entry fee: $30. Venmo is preferred: @Peter-Gao (confirmation code: 2322).

Results and Seating Info

• Table and seat assignments will be finalized before the tournament start.
• Please use the World Riichi App to track the table/seat assignments, current standings, etc.

Amenities and Food

There will be free coffee in the hotel lobby, and free ice water in the tournament room.

The hotel has a snack bar for quick bites (not free).

There are many fast food restaurants within a few mintues of walk: Skyline Chili, Popeyes, etc.

Rules

We use the WRC 2025 Ruleset, without any modification.

Prize Structure

Certificates

Top 4 players will each receive an award certificate.

Physical Prizes

Top 4 players will each choose 1 physical prize from the prize pool, in the order of final placements.

The prize pool will include at least the following:

• 1x Amos Card Mahjong Set (includes dice, tenbou, etc.)
• 1x QCR Chip Set (54 chips worth 120,000 points total)
• 1x Gachapon Card Mahjong
• 1x Mahjong Tile Zipper Charm

As we pass registration milestones (>15), we will add other prizes to the pool, such as:

• QCR Shirt
• Metal Round Wind Indicator
• Amos Colored Tenbou Set
• Amos Compass

WRL Points

• Scores from the 4 hanchan played in this tournament can count toward qualifying for the WRL Finals.
  • To qualify for the WRL Finals (2026), the players will be scored on their best streak of 16 hanchan across the WRL Major and Minor tournaments of the year.
• The WRL Finals (2026) is an online tournament in October 2026 and will award one (1) WRC 2028 seat.
